US Top Jeans Brand for Junior Market - Mudd Jeans
Recruits Frontline Retail Executives and Management Trainees
To Keep Pace with Business Developments in the Far East

Hong Kong, August 24, 2002 - Mudd Jeans today hosts a recruitment day to fill new positions created in line with the Group's business rollout in the Far East and the opening of new flagship stores in Hong Kong. The Company plans to recruit 30 frontline retail executives and 5 management trainees. Successful candidates will first attend a one-week comprehensive training on sales techniques, retail operations and quality service culture, designed by a consultancy, and continue to receive on-the-job training. Based on individual performances, they will be assigned to different posts in Hong Kong, Southeast Asia or China.

Applicants with retailing experience will have priority, but the posts of management trainees welcome application from fresh college graduates. Mudd Jeans requires the candidates to express their confidence and commitment in entering the retail profession. An aptitude test is designed to assess their disposition.

Mr Kenneth Lai, Consultant of Mudd Jeans (Far East) Limited, said: "There will be an active business rollout for Mudd Jeans in Hong Kong and other Asian countries. The first Mudd Jeans flagship store, of about 2,000 sq ft, will open doors at Nu Front, Causeway Bay in Hong Kong this September. A 20,000-sq-ft pioneering Denim City will follow at Silvercord, Tsimshatsui. The idea is to bring the world's top denim brands in one place, to make Hong Kong consumers denim crazed! We look forward to recruiting team members with a passion for fashion retailing. Together, we promise to bring to Hong Kong a new fashion and culture."

Starting salaries for the retail executives and management trainees are HK$7,000 and HK$6,000 respectively. The package includes annual leave, medical benefits and MPF scheme. In addition to the basic salary, there will be on-target and over-target bonuses. The management trainees will receive training on operations management, before they are assigned to field works in Hong Kong and other locations.

"Our business plan for the entire Far East region envisages about 40 flagship and franchised stores in China, South Korea and Hong Kong before October 2002. Our earlier fashion show and business conference held in Guangzhou have met with warm response, on the back of a recovering Asian retail market and tremendous openings in China. The Hong Kong market is still tough, but we will meet the challenge with radical changes in our mindset. The industry needs innovative ideas and additional value to be created for products and services," continued Mr Lai.

He concluded: "We are looking for committed, confident and dynamic members to strengthen our Far East team, and to support our three core values in total quality management: people, system, innovation. We are also staging a careers talk to provide some value-adding interviewing hints for the applicants."
