Zhaoqing, China, January 28, 2007 - Asia Aluminum Holdings Limited announced on January 26, 2007 the opening and full commissioning of the 6.5-sq-km Asia Aluminum Industrial City in the New High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province. Asia Aluminum Industrial City is the largest aluminum extrusion and rolled-products plant in the region, with an aggregate annual capacity of 750,000 metric tons.

The grand opening ceremony was officiated at by Mr Kwong Wui Chun, Chairman and Dr Benby Chan, Vice Chairman and CEO, Asia Aluminum, in the presence of various PRC government officials.

Mr Kwong Wui Chun said at the opening ceremony: "With over a decade of active development and now commanding an annual capacity of 350,000 metric tons of extrusion capacity, the Group is now the largest aluminum extruder in China, and ranks the third in the global aluminum extrusion industry. The second phase of the project, which is scheduled to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2007, is designed to be among the most advanced aluminum rolled-products facilities in the world. With the commissioning of the rolled-products plant, Asia Aluminum will rank a world top three aluminum processing group, reaffirming China's position as the world's leading production base for aluminum processing."

The Industrial City project was announced in mid-2003 and entailed an investment of RMB8 billion. The first phase of the Industrial City, which is now fully operational, includes world-class extrusion plants, fabrication factory, and one of the world's largest-scale testing and die-processing centers, all dedicated to extrusion products. The extrusion plant is equipped with 36 extrusion-press lines with automatic handling systems, mostly imported from leading suppliers and operators in Germany, Italy, Japan and the USA.

The second phase of the project, which is scheduled to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2007, is designed to be among the most advanced aluminum rolled-products facilities in the world. The rolled-products facilities will comprise a complete casting complex with advanced casting technology, a 1+5 hot rolling mill, 5-stand and 6-high cold-rolling mills and a full array of finishing equipment all supplied from North America and Germany. Future expansion plans will include the installation of a new hot-rolling reversing mill, an additional cold-rolling mill and sheet- and plate-finishing equipment to further the company's sophistication in the rolled-products arena.

Dr Benby Chan continued: "Since our establishment, we have been a leader and pioneer in the rapidly expanding aluminum extrusion industry in China in terms of both scale and technological-competence level. The commissioning of the new extrusion facilities places us in an even better position to build further on our leadership status to capture business growth from both domestic and international customers. The new rolled-products plant, on the other hand, will help us expand our capability to provide a wider and more advanced array of aluminum-processing solutions to make inroads in such new end-user segments as the architectural, packaging, industrial and general-usage markets."

Built in at Asia Aluminum Industrial City is a die shop equipped with state-of-the-art facilities from Germany, Taiwan and Japan, with management under Italian expertise. Its one-stop top-of-the-line solutions also include specialized services in architectural curtain-wall design, high-caliber cast-in channel and curtain-wall panel-forming, and door and window fabrication. In addition, the Industrial City incorporates a testing centre that is the largest in the world. It is designed to provide new concepts in appearance, shape, size-proportioning and performance for curtain-wall construction design.
