Hong Kong, November 13, 2001 - Information-on-demand (IOD) system solutions provider IA International Holdings Limited (HKGEM: 8047) today announces the first interim results after listing. In the six months ended September 30, 2001, IA International registered a year-on-year turnover growth of 27% to HK$26.5 million. The gross profit margin remained fairly stable, and net profit from ordinary activities attributable to shareholders was HK$3.4 million. The directors did not recommend the payment of an interim dividend.

IA International Holdings Limited is engaged in the research and development of proprietary IOD system solutions which comprise a secured e-commerce platform for online authentication and Internet appliances for local data retrieval. With a view to becoming a total IOD system solutions provider, the Group continues to develop its e-commerce platform and related applications, while at the same time develops and distributes a series of Internet appliances which can be used as the client-end device of the IOD solution.

During the first half of the year, the Group introduced a new model of auto DVD for use outside households and offices. The Group plans to enhance the auto DVDs with the wireless application of 3G standards which will be launched in the near future. With the addition of wireless applications, the enhanced auto DVDs can be used to access the Group's e-commerce platform.

In April 2001, IA Shenzhen, a subsidiary of the Company, and Shenzhen E-Commerce Centre jointly prepared and submitted a proposal to Shenzhen Tax Bureau for the development of an e-Tax platform. The e-Tax platform has been developed based on the system design of the Group's e-commerce platform. The trial run is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2001. Initially the e-Tax platform will enable business enterprises in Shenzhen to submit tax returns via the Internet. It is expected that at a later stage, the platform will facilitate online tax payments.

"The trial run of the e-Tax platform, which was built based on our IOD system, will be conducted in December 2001. We are extremely confident of the trial run of our total IOD solution in the first quarter of 2002 and the subsequent business rollout," said Mr Chiu Ting San, Chairman and CEO, IA International.
