China Resources China 7+2 Expedition South Pole Team
First Hong Kong Chinese Chung Kin Man Completes "7+2" Mission

Hong Kong, January 5, 2006 - The China Resources China 7+2 Expedition team successfully reached the South Pole on December 28, 2005. Hong Kong mountaineer Mr Chung Kin Man, a member of the team, has become the first Hong Kong Chinese to have completed the "7+2" mission after this South Pole expedition. The team returned to Hong Kong this morning and was warmly welcomed at the Hong Kong International Airport.

The expedition team comprises members Mr Chung Kin Man from Hong Kong, and Mr Wang Shi, President of China Vanke Co., Ltd., Mr Cao Jun, Mr Zhang Liang, Mr Lu Zhongling and Mr A Wang from Mainland China. Among them, Mr Chung and Mr Wang have successfully completed the "7+2" challenge. Mr Chung¡¦s achievements will mark a milestone in the agenda of sports development in the HKSAR.

Mr Chung and Mr Wang gave an account of their experiences during the trip: "We learned a lot during this one-month journey, and had felt the innate harmony between the human race and nature. The bad weather and extreme conditions of the South Pole were a true test of the physical and psychological limits of our team members. We are glad that all our members had demonstrated great perseverance and team spirit to accomplish our mission."

The expedition team left Hong Kong on December 8, heading first to Punta Arenas at the tip of South America, and began their 120-km overland trek to the pole. This remarkable "7+2" mission represents the climbing of the highest peaks on seven continents and the North and South Poles. The expedition pair ¡V Mr Chung and Mr Wang - fearlessly and successfully reached South Pole, the last stop of their "7+2" challenge at 0105 hrs on December 28, 2005. Stormy and rough conditions were recorded during almost the entire journey on highlands of more than 2,000 m above sea level. Mr Chung and Mr Wang came ninth and tenth on the global 7+2 Scoreboard.

The expedition was supported by China Resources Group, China Mobile and SSI Holdings (Far East) Ltd., and aims to raise funds in support of studies and the protection of the rare and endangered White-headed Leaf Monkeys in Chongzuo County of Guangxi Zhuang Municipality.
