![]() HANG FUNG GOLD TECHNOLOGY LIMITED and "3D-GOLD" Exhibition Hall and "La Milky Way" Franchisees Jointly Hosts Management Trainees' Recruitment Day to Fill 50 Positions for University and College Graduates Hong Kong, August 9, 2002 - ang Fung Gold Technology Limited (SEHK: 870) today joined its subsidiary "3D-GOLD" Tourism Exhibition Hall and "La Milky Way" franchised retail outlets, in a large scale recruitment day at a hotel in Tsimshatsui to recruit 50 university and college graduates as management trainees. Successful candidates will be assigned to the Group's research and development, product development, design, information technology, travel, administration, marketing, accounting, business development and corporate communications departments. Over 1,500 graduates filed in applications today, but due to the overwhelming response, about 500 applicants will be arranged to attend interview sessions in about one to two weeks after the recruitment day at the Group's headquarters. Ms Kathy Ng, President of Hang Fung Gold Technology Limited, noted: "In response to the escalating unemployment figures, which had exceeded 260,000, six associations in Hong Kong had earlier put forward a "One Company, One Job" quest for local companies to provide training opportunities for college graduates in Hong Kong. As a company rooted in Hong Kong, as well as a corporate citizen committed to advancing the local jewellery and tourism industries, we fully support the local business community's employment initiatives. The recruitment was also in line with the expansion plans of '3D-GOLD' Tourism Exhibition Hall and our franchised retail outlets of 'La Milky Way'. We offer both training and job opportunities for fresh graduates and will empower them to perform and to contribute." The recruitment today mainly aimed at hiring fresh college graduates, who will be assigned to various departments based on their credentials and individual talents. After receiving training and passing performance audits, some of the trainees will be out-posted to the Group's offices in Mainland China. The salary scale of the management trainee programme starts at HK$6,000, with other benefits including annual leave, medical benefits and MPF scheme. Hang Fung Gold Technology Group primarily engages in the design, production, distribution and export of gold, silver and jewellery products. The Group has pursued an active rollout of its retailing business, which has already seen the introduction of two house brands - "3D-GOLD" and "La Milky Way". The Group unveiled its "3D-GOLD" Tourism Exhibition Hall in January 2001 in Hunghom, Kowloon. In its first year of operation, the hall has attracted over one million visitors. In view of the high usage of the hall and the anticipated increase in tourist arrivals from Mainland China and Taiwan, the Group has already acquired additional premises of over 30,000 sq ft for expansion. Part of the extension is expected to open this year. The Group's house brand, "La Milky Way" has recently pioneered the development of a collection of sterling-silver jewellery featuring designs by pop singers. This new line was a new development of the Group to cater to the high-consumption, but relatively untapped junior market. With the Group's diversified expansion plans in the pipeline, the management trainees will be given opportunities to work and develop their career on various business fronts. "We believe that with appropriate training, college graduates have the potential to be groomed into a valued community resource. We are committed to helping graduates progress in the business community, and we sincerely hope that they will take this opportunity to sharpen their edge. The trainees who join our Group will find the opportunity to utilise their talents in a range of positions, from marketing, accounting, electronic processing to research and development. Amidst an overall economic downturn in Hong Kong, all graduates should still adopt a positive thinking, and actively prepare themselves for future career developments." The recruitment event received warm response from university and college graduates. In a similar recruitment day held in April 2002, the Group had also successfully recruited 100 staff members to fill positions ranging from receptionists, sales, public relations and managers with the "3D-GOLD" Tourism Exhibition Hall.
