The 1.1 million sq ft MegaBox
To offer the most comprehensive array of international cuisines
including six new premium Chinese restaurants at "Chopsticks"
Upon completion, MegaBox will host more than 30 gourmet restaurants in an area of 280,000 sq ft, comprising delicacies from all over the world, two floors of which will be based on a "Chopsticks" theme featuring the best of China's provincial cuisine.
Today, (September 18, 2006), MegaBox signed up with six premium Chinese restaurants for "Chopsticks". They include Chaozhou, Guangdong, Hakka and Shandong restaurants, as well as a popular hot-pot restaurant and a banquet style diner with an international size ballroom dance floor. All will showcase memorable culinary experiences and exquisite dˆmcor.
Mr Tom Tong, Executive Director and General Manager, MegaBox Development Co Ltd, said: "Hong Kongers are well known for being discerning diners, and here you can find delicious cuisine from all over China. This is the first time that we are introducing mouth-watering delicacies from Chaozhou, Guangdong, Shangdong and the Hakka culture. We are confident that 'Chopsticks' will play an important part in this gourmet paradise."
"Chopsticks" also boasts distinctive interior design themes. Located on two connected floors, "Chopsticks" has a warm and comfortable setting amidst a backdrop of vivid colours. Decorated in a Chinese style featuring a chopsticks art piece, the interior design offers enough space to seat large numbers of customers in the common area. It also has a large screen for cooking and gourmet programmes as part of the overall culinary experience.
In a special food-tasting session for the press, the chefs of the six gourmet restaurant each prepared their signature dishes on site. Travel writer and food critic Walter Kei hosted the session and introduced the six dishes.
MegaBox is Hong Kong's first 'TCM' Vertical Mega-Mall, a new retail and entertainment hot-spot destined to be a Hong Kong landmark. Ranging over 19 storeys across 1.1 million square feet of totally-connected retail space, MegaBox is scheduled for opening in mid-2007.
