DVN (HOLDINGS) LIMITED SARFT Names DVN As One Of China's Top Ten Broadcasting Enterprises
Hong Kong, March 15, 2005 - DVN (Holdings) Limited ("DVN", HKEx: 500) announced today that the Company was recently named by China's State Administration for Radio Film and Television ("SARFT") as one of the country's "Top Ten Broadcasting Enterprises 2004". DVN's Chief Executive Officer Mr Terry Lui was also elected as one of the "Most Influential People in Broadcasting in China". The election was conducted by Hui Cong International Information (HC360.com) and China TV Broadcasting Equipment Industries Association.
Mr Terry Lui, DVN's Chief Executive Officer, noted, "I am delighted to receive this honour as it validates DVN's efforts over the past several years in advancing China's digital TV broadcasting. It is also a privilege to be able to participate in this election side by side with over 300 industry counterparts." The honour came after DVN's announcement of an additional investment from strategic partner Motorola. Having established one of the first digital cable television operations in China, DVN has been a pioneer in bringing digital cable technology to China. Mr Lui also serves as a key member in China's Digital Broadcasting Transmission Standards Committee, the government body that discusses and advises SARFT on the development and adoption of digital TV related technologies. In 2004, DVN sold over 240,000 set top boxes, an increase of over six times compared to 2003. The election results will be published in major media and trade publications, as well as the 2005 edition of "China Broadcasting Industry". All selected products will be displayed in an exhibition to be held from March 21 to 23 in Beijing. About DVN DVN operates R&D and after-sales services centres in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Suzhou. It has so far installed more than 40 digital broadcasting systems in all 26 provinces, with its patented products extensively deployed. On the back of its digital TV broadcasting platform, the company is now seeking to develop and roll out a range of value-added solutions, including e-government, TV commerce, online games and TV SMS services. DVN's set top box (STB) is well recognized in China for its quality and extensive usage. A nationwide survey report conducted by the Academy of Broadcasting Science, SARFT of China in 2002 ranked it the most widely adopted STB by TV operators in the country. In 2004, DVN received the "Best Set Top Box" award in the first Digital TV Public Survey, as well as a "Top Quality Brand" honour in the STB category in the first China Consumer Products Quality Survey.
