"The past year has been a difficult year for IT and computer industry. The slowing global economy impacts adversely every IT company around the world undermining the profit margin of every industry player. Despite of the deteriorating global economic conditions, our Group has strived to maintain our gross profit margin of 10.80% comparing to 10.55% the year before. This acceptable result against a backdrop of a very challenging market situation is mainly attributable to our improved monitor product lines and successful vertical integration of our business. It is also the fruitful outcome of the Group's direction to form strategic alliances with our suppliers." Said Mr Rowell Yang Long-san, PROVIEW's Chairman and Managing Director.

As a global player in the computer monitor sector, the Group was able to capitalize on its experience in the industry and benefit from the reduced cost of LCD panel during the period. The total sale of LCD monitor has increased to HK$230 million which is 2.46 times that of previous year.

With the PRC's imminent accession to World Trade Organization (WTO) and the continuous substantial growth of the Mainland's economy, a high growth in demand of IT products was envisaged. "EMC", the Group's own branded monitors, has become one of the most famous brand names in the PRC. In line with the Group's belief in the continuous prosperity of the PRC market, the Group has increased marketing and sales efforts and succeeded in clinching orders from several reputable IT companies in the PRC, hence further cementing the Group's prominent position in the PRC market.

"Steps have been taken to strengthen the Group's presence in the PRC where there is great market potential. Targeting at the domestic market, the Group has formed a joint venture in Wuhan for the production of computer monitor and information appliances, which not only will improve our distribution network but also deepen our penetration into the PRC market." Continued Mr Yang.

Following on the Group's commitment to continuous research and development to increase its competitiveness, the Group has developed a few new series of CRT and LCD monitors during the period under review. Not only the flat screen CRT monitor series reinforced the Group's competitive advantage significantly, the new LCD monitors series has also enabled the Group to outperform its other competitors in the wake of demand surge for this product. Leveraging on the Group's display technology, it has continued to develop new series of information appliance in addition to the introduction of the iPAD (Internet Personal Access Devices).

PROVIEW International Holdings Limited is principally engaged in the design, manufacturing and sales of computer monitors under its own PROVIEW and EMC brand names for worldwide markets including North America, Europe, Asia and the PRC.
