Hong Kong, December 20, 2000 - PROVIEW International Holdings Limited (HKSE: 334) unfolds today at its annual general meeting new business plans to increase the sales volume of iPAD, an Information Appliance (IA) developed by the Group for one-click access to email, online applications, chat, shopping and search engines. Since its launch in August 2000, iPAD has received strong response with negotiations currently ongoing with a number of potential buyers around the world. A notable contract has also been recently entered into with a major US computer company.

"iPAD was developed as a horizontal diversification initiative to allow our Group to maintain long-term growth momentum as the worldwide demand for monitors begin to level off. We record steady growth for this new business line, and expect it to have significant contribution to Group revenue in fiscal 2001/02," said Luffer Wong, Executive Director, PROVIEW International Holdings.

Commenting on the global market for personal computers, Mr Wong added, "We believe the current adjustments in the US and European markets are healthy and reasonable for the long-term development of the industry. In light of the continued downward adjustments in the market in the coming year, PROVIEW has consolidated its competitive position through vertical integration into the manufacturing of CRT deflection yoke and tight cost control. At the same time, we will continue to extend our reach in the Asian market, which is recovering steadily from its worst economic crisis."

With initial success for the launch of iPAD, PROVIEW is currently working jointly with several partners to develop a new generation of the IA, with added features and a more trendy look. The new model, planned to be introduced to the market by 2001, is expected to enable the Group to tap further into the fast emerging information era.

PROVIEW's iPAD is based on National Geode WebPAD?platform and PROVIEW's 15-inch cathode ray tube (CRT) colour monitor. Easier to use, fashionably designed and much more affordable than traditional PCs, this product enables smooth browsing, Web mail, online shopping as well as a rich, full Internet experience without the cost and complexity of a PC.
