Hong Kong, October 8, 2003 - One of the world's largest laminates manufacturer Kingboard Chemical Holdings Limited (SEHK: 148) today announces a number of new projects to lead its way to further vertical integration and capacity expansion. The new projects are located in Lianzhou and Fogang of Guangdong Province and Hainan Province. Details of the projects are set out below.
Kingboard Chemical today celebrates its 10th anniversary of listing on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited. Mr Paul Cheung Kwok-wing, Chairman, Kingboard Chemical remarked: "Our Group operated only one plant for paper laminates when we went public in 1993. Since then, we have embarked on the path to rapid growth in two directions - horizontally and vertically. These developments have placed us in a competitive position by optimizing economies of scale and achieving cost efficiencies. Kingboard today is one of the largest laminates producers in the world, operating more than 20 plants in China with annual outputs of over 40 million sheets." The debut of methanol production will bring the Group to further upstream integration. The Group now has inhouse production capability of copper foil, bleached kraft paper, glass yarn, glass fabric, formalin, hydrogen peroxide, epoxy resin and TBBA.
